This is an exciting time for healthcare in Wakefield and Pontefract, as we are about to embark on the long awaited build of two new hospitals. The new facilities will enable us to provide healthcare in bright, modern and accessible facilities. To find out more about the new hospitals click here. Until our new hospitals are complete we continue to invest and reinvigorate our current facilities including the replacement of some wards and operating theatres. Recent examples of these improvements include the £700,000 refurbishment of the maternity and neonatal units completed in early 2004 and more recently the opening of a brand new, purpose built £1.6 million endoscopy unit.
