Felicity Reeves, Surgical Simulation Fellow
I qualified from the University of Nottingham, completed a pilot foundation programme and core surgical training in the East Midlands deanery. I moved to Sheffield and have been a Urology SpR since 2009 in the Yorkshire and Humber deanery. I have a strong interest in medical education and having completed a PG certificate am now starting PhD in Medical Education with Sheffield University to develop my skills and interest.
This fellowship is a unique opportunity for a urology SpR to develop leadership and educational skills. The deanery has funded a PG certificate in Leadership which Adam and I are both doing with Sheffield Hallam University.
The postgraduate skills lab at the Mid Yorkshire Education and Simulation Hub contains some of the best urological simulators in the country. They include two uromentors, a TURP mentor, a green light laser simulator, a lap mentor, eight laparoscopic box trainers, a Bristol TURP model, suprapubic catheter simulators and facilities for animal tissue simulation.
