Please note that parking is limited at all of our hospital sites and if possible we would ask that you use public transport or arrange for someone to drop you off and pick you up.
Please click one of the links below for more information about car parking at our hospitals:
Current car parking charges at our hospitals are:
- £1.30 for up to one hour
- £2.70 for up to two hours
- £4.00 for up to four hours
£6.70 for over four hours and up to 24 hours.
In the main car parks at our Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals, you collect a car parking ticket on arrival and use this to pay when you leave the hospital. This means that you only pay for the time you need.
Dewsbury and District Hospital has pay and display parking.
We cannot guarantee parking spaces at all times. If a friend or relative is bringing you to hospital by car, you may find it easier to be dropped off and picked up outside the main entrance. Please allow enough time for your journey and to find a parking space before your appointment.
Drivers who have a disability and are Local Authority Blue Badge Holders can park free for up to four hours in the marked disabled bays at all our hospitals. There are spaces next to or near main hospital entrances.
We know that there are many patients, relatives and visitors who use our services regularly. So we have increased the car parking discounts we offer for people. These reduced rates are to help patients and visitors that need to come to hospital regularly for a length of time. Please speak to a ward sister or matron for more information.
Long Stay Discounts
For visitors that have a longer term daily requirement to park a one week visitor parking permit charged at day rate i.e. £6.70 (April 2013 tariff) is available. Ward and General Office staff can authorise this permit.
Patients receiving acute care
Close relatives on a number of high dependency acute care units are eligible for daily (pay for first hour for full day parking) or weekly parking permits (pay for one day for full week), discount permit applications should be made at Trust General Office. Close relatives attending the following units are eligible for the concession:
Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Special Care and the Regional Burns Unit where an acute burns patient is being supported. This is at the discretion of the ‘Nurse in Charge’.
Maternity and paediatric services are eligible for supported parking as above. The Senior Nurse in charge can authorise the release of a day or weekly permit for parents or direct carers who are attending daily and/or overnight, other regular attendees to the paediatric unit would be expected to pay the ‘long stay’ discount rate. Permits are restricted to one per patient.
Regular Day Attendee
For patients who are attending on regular basis for dialysis or chemotherapy, permits are available from the Trust General Office that mean the patient will only pay for the first hour of their stay.
The Trust General office staff have welfare/hardship discretion to issue free of charge permits. Such requests will be validated on a ‘case of need’ basis. The Trust also takes into account social service benefit claimants.
Patients who are unexpectedly admitted to hospital from outpatients or A&E will have their parking fee waived for 24 hours. The senior nurse should provide details of the vehicle to security. Stays beyond 24 hours will be considered on a case by case basis.
