Before you come in

Check your admission date

You will have a letter confirming your admission to hospital for treatment, investigation or surgery along with this leaflet. Please bring them both with you when you come into hospital. Please check the date of your admission. If you have any problems with attending on that date, ring the telephone number on the letter as soon as possible.

Check which hospital you are going to be attending

Please check which hospital site you will be attending.  This will be on your admission letter.

Check that a bed is available

On the day that you are coming into hospital, please telephone the ward or department where you will be having your treatment or surgery to check that a bed is available for you. Unfortunately, emergency admissions sometimes mean that a planned admission has to be cancelled or delayed. Your letter tells you what time to phone;  this is the time at which we will know that a bed is available. The telephone number is printed on your letter.

Unable to attend

If due to illness or another reason you are unable to come into hospital on your agreed date, please telephone the ward as soon as possible to let us know. Your place can then be given to another patient.
