What is it?

Clinical Neurophysiology is an area of medicine that involves testing the electrical functions of the brain, spinal cord and the nerves in the limbs and muscles. This is done to help diagnose a wide range of conditions affecting these parts of the body.


The department offers the following services:

  • Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG and NCS)
  • Electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP)
  • Ambulatory EEG
  • Continuous EEG monitoring.

When do we offer this service?

Clinical Neurophysiology services are offered from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm. Occasionally, we will be open in the evenings and weekends (please ask a member of staff from the department for further information).
