Dr Kate Granger Compassionate Care Award

Dr Kate Granger was an inspiring and dedicated consultant in elderly medicine at the Trust who sadly passed away in 2016. She left a very important legacy of the ‘#hellomynameis’ campaign, which encourages healthcare staff to introduce themselves to patients. Trust staff continue to embed Kate’s campaign in their practice so that patients know who they are when they are talking or caring for them.

Dr Kate Granger Compassionate Care Award

Have you had great care and been shown compassion from a member of staff, volunteer or team?

We’re inviting members of the public to nominate our staff for a special award category in our annual staff awards, called ‘The Dr Kate Granger Compassionate Care Award’.

The award is an opportunity to publicly recognise a member of staff, volunteer or team who is making a positive difference to patients, by ensuring they are treated with personalised care and compassion. It gives patients, relatives and visitors the opportunity to say thank you for the outstanding care and compassion shown to themselves, a relative or a friend.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 6 January 2020.

2019 Dr Kate Granger Compassionate Care Award

Our 2019 winners of the 'Dr Kate Granger compassionate Care Award' were Claire Williams and our Critical Care Colleagues at Pinderfields Hospital.

They were nominated by two members of the same family for the compassion, comfort, care and dignity shown to them during their family member's last days.

Comments about Claire included: "Everything she did for us was more than just a job; she cared for us in our time of sorrow. She made sure we got to say goodbye to my brother, and i will always be grateful to her."

Comments about Claire and her colleagues included: "This team of nurses are utterly selfless. They all went above and beyond anything we could have asked for. They are an outstanding team. They don't realise how wonderful they are or how much of a difference they've made for me and all my family. They gace my son the best possible care available."
