What is it?

An endoscopy is a long flexible tube that transmits video images. Doctors can examine and treat patients using endoscopes. For example the endoscopy unit at Pinderfields Hospital investigates and treats diseases and disorders of the gullet, stomach, small and large bowels, as well as the lungs and the liver.

Where is it?

We provide endoscopy services from:

  • Dewsbury and District Hospital

  • Pinderfields Hospital

  • Pontefract Hospital

We recently invested £1.6 million in a brand new endoscopy unit at Pinderfields Hospital. This fantastic new unit is a major investment to improve services for gastroenterology patients and is part of a series of improvements which the Trust has made over the past two years.
