Hospital radio stations
We have a hospital radio station run by volunteers which serves our patients and staff at Dewsbury and District Hospital.
The Heavy Woollen District (HWD) Hospital Radio at Dewsbury and District Hospital
HWD Hospital Radio broadcasts via the internet 24 hours a day to entertain the patients and staff at Dewsbury and District Hospital with a wide variety of programmes to suit all tastes, including music, reviews, news and sport.
You can listen online through a tablet or mobile phone at www.hwdhospitalradio.com anywhere around the world, not just in the hospital!
The station positively encourages listener participation, in particular during the ever-popular Sunday morning request show when patients and their relatives can select the music played. Presenters are just a phone call away, so if you have a favourite song that you want to hear, call the studio on 01924 816262 after 6pm weeknights and from 8am on weekends.
HWD Hospital Radio was formed in 1952 to broadcast live rugby commentary to hospital patients, something it still does today from its own commentary box at Dewsbury Rams' stadium.
You can find the latest programme schedule and information about the station online at www.hwdhospitalradio.com
