Reintroduction of parking charges at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Access to parking at Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary has been free to all patients, visitors and staff during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From Monday 5 October, parking for visitors and patients will return to the arrangements that were in place at the Trust before the pandemic. This is in line with national guidance and in common with most other trusts in the region.

We understand this news may be unwelcome, however, as more of our clinics and services are re-established, there is a greater need for parking spaces. Over the last few weeks parking has become difficult at all our hospital sites. These changes help us to protect spaces for patients and visitors, making the process of finding a parking space as easy and stress-free as possible for them.

Please be aware that the first 20 minutes will remain free to allow people to be dropped off or collected and blue badge holders will continue to park for free.

To summarise;

  • We will be reintroducing car parking charges for patients and visitors, returning to the arrangements we had in place prior to the pandemic
  • The first 20 minutes will remain free for all patients or visitors
  • Parking for staff will remain free for at least the next 6 months, further information about this has been sent out to all staff
