Seeing is believing for Maggie

When Maggie Lawton was told by her GP she needed surgery on her eyes it took just three months from the date of her referral for the procedure to be completed.

Maggie was referred to the Trust where she was placed under the care of Mr Varma to have her cataracts removed.

“I knew I wanted Mr Varma to carry out my procedure,” said Maggie, “his reputation precedes him. I met him in his clinic three months after I’d seen my GP and the following week I had surgery at Pontefract.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mid Yorks to anyone who needs to undergo eye surgery. The surroundings of the hospital are modern and extremely calming and someone is with you every step of the way to talk you through what’s happening.

“The whole experience was fantastic, from the care I received on the day to the care I received in the months afterwards, I couldn’t fault a thing.”

The operation to remove Maggie’s cataracts took just under ten minutes using state of the art facilities at Pontefract Hospital. Her sight has been amazing ever since and her own optician even commented on how good the stitching in her eye was.
