The Tour de Yorkshire passes through the east of the Wakefield District on Friday 3 May 2019.
There will be two races on the day, the women’s race in the morning and the men’s race in the afternoon.
The majority of the race will run with rolling road closures, which will be put in place 20 minutes before the race is due in an area. Travel disruption may last for up to 40 minutes in busy areas until queuing traffic clears.
On the request of Welcome to Yorkshire, Highways England (responsible for the motorway network) has approved the closure of the exit slip roads of the M62 at Junction 32 from 10am to 11am and from 4pm to 5pm, as the women’s and men’s races pass through Pontefract and Castleford. Diversions will be in place.
The table below shows you the timings the race is expected in Pontefract (depending on how fast the competitors cycle) with details below that of the roads which will be affected.
This will help you plan your journey to Pontefract.
