The Professional Development and Education Unit (PDEU) at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is celebrating its award shortlist success.
The team has been shortlisted in three categories - Best UK Employer of the Year, Preceptorship of the Year and Workforce Team of the Year – in the inaugural Nursing Times Workforce Awards.
The new awards are an opportunity to focus on recognising and rewarding the excellent work being done by employers in supporting the nursing and midwifery workforce, and the team is delighted to receive such recognition.
Alison Ward, Assistant Director of Nursing at the Trust, said: ”The team has worked tremendously hard over the last few years to become established, engage with staff and put in place robust workforce support and retention initiatives.
“As such we now have a much more innovative approach to the recruitment and retention of our nursing staff with the introduction of; our Graduate Nurse Programme, coaching, mentorship and competencies for new nurses, bespoke rotations, supported career pathways and career development opportunities. To receive industry recognition for all this is fantastic, I’m so proud of the team and all they have achieved.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit on 4 October.
