Trust pays thanks to local business

Father Christmas has swapped his sleigh for a John Atkinsons van in the build up to Christmas

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has paid thanks to a small local business for generous gifts given to staff to say thank you for their hard work over the course of the pandemic.

John Atkinsons Interiors and Acoustics have decided that instead of their annual Christmas party, staff have agreed to use the funds to gift prizes to the local Trust that will be raffled off to MYHT employees. Prizes include hampers, an experience day gift card and dinner and an overnight stay in a Leeds hotel.

John Atkinsons Interiors was established in 1862 and are a leading specialist contractor with a reputation for reliability. Each year, like most businesses, they celebrate a triumphant year during the festive season. However, this year they have decided to do things a little differently.

Jonathan Hope, Managing Director at John Atkinson Interiors and Acoustics, said:

“Our staff were all in agreement that this was the best way to round off a difficult year by giving thanks back to the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, a place close to our hearts.

“It may be a small gesture, but as we can’t have our Christmas do this year, we’ve decided that we’re going to use the money we’d normally spend on giving something back to those that deserve it.

“We are all very appreciative of the NHS and its staff, this is our little way to give back to them.”

Martin Barkley, Chief Executive, at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I welcome this donation for our staff from John Atkinsons and would like to thank all of their employees for the very thoughtful gifts.

“As a Trust we have dedicated the month of December to our staff to say thank you for all their hard work. This very generous donation will allow us to make that thank you a little more special.

“It has been a very challenging year and for many it has been difficult to feel festive. It is very heart-warming to know that businesses and residents from our community are also supportive of our staff and are grateful for the work they do every day.”
