Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has today published an open letter to the two Members of Parliament (MPs) whose constituents live in communities served by Dewsbury and District Hospital.
The letter, which has also been signed by Dr David Kelly, Chair of the North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), sets out the future of the A&E department at the hospital.
It is being sent to Tracy Brabin, MP for Batley and Spen, and Paula Sherriff, MP for Dewsbury, to ask them to help to clear up any confusion local communities might have about the future of the A&E department at Dewsbury and District Hospital.
Plans to change the A&E department were approved by the Health Secretary in 2014 as part of a wider programme – called Meeting the Challenge – to change health services across North Kirklees and Wakefield.
With the final planned changes due to take place in Spring 2017 the Trust and the CCG wants to make clear to people what these changes mean for them.
