Foot and Ankle Service

The Foot and Ankle service provide diagnosis, advice and/or management of a wide range of musculoskeletal pathologies.

We are based at Normanton Health Centre and provide care here for people from across the district.

We see adults for symptoms related to tendon, joint or soft tissue issues with common examples being:

  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Plantar fasciitis

We also provide paediatric assessments for children who have foot and ankle symptoms to diagnose and provide appropriate management. Developing feet are more susceptible to different conditions than an adult’s foot with common issues being:

  • Severs Disease
  • Freiberg Disease

We provide a wide range of treatments for young and old as part of their individual management plan. This could be footwear and activity advice, a programme of exercises, injection therapy, provision of orthotic devices, referrals for appropriate scans amongst other interventions with one or more of these possibly being required.

A referral to the Foot and Ankle service is required from a registered NHS healthcare professional such as your GP or Consultant.
