Join our Nursing and Midwifery Teams

Being a nurse or midwife at Mid Yorks means being part of a skilled and compassionate team dedicated to caring for patients.

Whether you're beginning your journey or looking to take the next step, we’re committed to helping you develop your skills and shape a career that suits you.

We offer a wide range of roles – from support workers and graduates to senior positions up to Band 8a.

Our teams work across our three hospitals and in the community, with opportunities in critical care, children’s services, maternity, theatres, surgery, and adult specialist medicine. We also have a specialist burns, trauma, and spinal unit.

We have a supportive in-house Professional Development and Education Unit (PDEU), which runs our preceptorship programmes, delivers training, and provides pastoral and personal support.

Find a nursing or midwifery role

If you’d like to join us – or you already work here and want a new challenge, take a look at our current vacancies on the careers site.

Already part of the team? You’ll need to apply through the internal careers site.

If no vacancies are showing, it means we don’t currently have any live nursing and midwifery roles.

However, you can set up a job alert to be notified when new roles become available.

Graduate nurse programme

We have a dedicated Professional Development and Education Unit (PDEU), which is nationally recognised for its award-winning programme helping newly qualified nurses move smoothly from student life into registered practice.

Our graduate nurse programme is all about promoting the Trust’s values and creating a workplace people enjoy being part of. It’s been shaped around what new nurses told us they’re looking for:

  • being part of a supportive team
  • manageable workloads and good staffing levels
  • feeling satisfied in their job
  • being valued and appreciated
  • working in a pleasant environment

Our graduate nurse recruitment events typically run between March and June. Any job adverts will be posted on our careers site and to attend an event you would need to submit an application.

MY 3 step career pathway for band 5 nurses

Our three step career pathway was introduced to clearly identify where a band 5 nurse is in their career journey and to demonstrate what training they have undertaken/need to complete.

Nurses are identified by a coloured logo sticker that is attached to their name badge.

In addition this pathway provides clear identification of nurses that have the transferable and interchangeable skills to support permanent wards and/or extra capacity wards.

The pathway consists of three levels:

  • Fresher nurse / Registered nurse graduates
  • Junior nurse
  • Senior nurse
