Mid Yorkshire Hospitals welcomes new Executive Director

Jo Webster

Jo Webster, Accountable Officer for Wakefield place, will join the Executive team at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust to have responsibility for adult community services across Wakefield. This appointment will enable and strengthen the role the Trust will take in integrating care, improving outcomes and the experience of local people.

Jo joins the Trust from the NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), where she has been Chief Officer since 2012. Jo is the Accountable Officer (designate) for Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership, and her role also incorporates responsibility for adult social care.

Jo has a wealth of experience in health and social care services, working with partners and across communities. She is also a member of the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership System Executive Leadership Group and the NHS Integrated Care Board, who work together across all health and care sectors to transform and improve services for over 2.4 million people in the local area.

Her previous leadership roles include positions at Doncaster Central PCT and Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority.

On her new appointment, Jo said: "I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to join Mid Yorkshire Hospitals. I am one of the first leaders in England to have three Executive roles across one local health and care system. My role incorporates services that are experienced by people in our communities every day, and I’m in such a privileged position to help join up care in their interests.

“My goal is to make sure everyone in Wakefield District and West Yorkshire has a great start in life and receives the support they need to live a long, healthy, and happy life, whilst preventing ill health wherever possible and enabling people to live as independently as they can.

“I am passionate about delivering compassionate, quality care closer to home and working with communities to develop this, and I look forward to seeing first-hand the difference my colleagues make in this area every day. This role gives me the opportunity to strategically lead the integration of health and care for the whole of the district.”

With over 25 years’ experience in front line care services and commissioning, Jo will be an asset to the Trust and the Executive team look forward to giving her a warm welcome.

Len Richards, Chief Executive of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jo to the Mid Yorkshire Team. Her appointment to the leadership team recognises the huge importance of taking a strong partnership approach, and the bringing together of community services with primary and social care under Jo’s leadership.”
