Maternity Personalised Care

Maternity Personalised Care

Personalised care at MY Maternity Services

At Mid Yorkshire, we believe every pregnancy journey is unique which is why we’re committed to providing personalised care, supporting and empowering you to make informed decisions about your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey.

Personalised care means we work with you to understand your preferences, needs, and circumstances, giving you clear, evidence-based information to help you make the choices that are right for you and your baby. We make sure you have the opportunity for open and honest discussions with your midwife or obstetrician, so you feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Informed care is at the heart of what we do. We ensure you receive all the facts – including the benefits and risks of every option – in a way that makes sense to you. This includes clear explanations, written information, and links to trusted resources, so you can weigh up your options and decide what’s best for you.

You have the right to:

  • clear, factual information you can understand
  • honest discussions about all options, including the benefits and risks
  • support to make choices that are right for you and your baby.
If your circumstances mean your preferred birth choices fall outside national guidance, we offer a dedicated Personalised Care Clinic. This is a supportive space to explore your options in detail, especially if you have previous birth factors that might place you at higher risk. Here, we work together to create a safe, personalised plan that respects your wishes while ensuring the best possible care for you and your baby.

Making decisions

When making a decision about your care, try using the BRAINS tool:

B – What are the Benefits?
R – What are the Risks?
A – What are the Alternatives?
I – What does your Intuition or gut tell you?
N – What happens if we do Nothing for now?
S – Can you get a Second opinion?

Remember, we're here to support your choices, every step of the way.
