Data Is The New Oil

Jon Gee

Jonathan Gee, Deputy Head of Information Services & DW@P Lead talks about the importance of data and its pivotal role at our Trust.

Data Is The New Oil - Clive Humby

Like most people, you might not know much about Information Services at Mid Yorks, you might not know who we are or what we do.

If I asked you to guess, you might imagine hundreds of spreadsheets or you might think about bespectacled techies in dark basements.

You’d be wrong - mostly :-)

You could say that we start by drilling Mid Yorks for the data “oil” before extracting & stockpiling it in our Data Warehouse.

Valuable But Unrefined Cannot Really Be Used – Michael Palmer

We then carefully refine the data “oil” through a process of transformation & consolidation, giving us a linked-up view of everything that happens at the Trust.

You Can’t Improve What You Don’t Measure - Peter Drucker

The refined data is then analysed, producing knowledge and insight. This allows our colleagues across Mid Yorks to better understand of our patients & processes.

Through our Data Warehouse Pace Programme, we’re modernising whilst expanding the scale and ambition of these ideas.

We’re now recruiting into our Data Engineering team, with a number of interesting posts and never-before seen opportunities, please take a look and tell your family and friends.
