MY Community Promise
What is MY Community Promise?
MY Community Promise sets out the Trust’s ambitions for how our local hospitals and community services can make our neighbourhoods healthier, happier, and greener. To achieve these ambitions, we are considering all the ways we can improve the lives of people in our local communities.
As an organisation anchored in our local communities, we recognise that wellbeing is about far more than providing healthcare services. MY Community Promise sets out our ambitions for how we can also increase our impact on social and economic outcomes.
In our continued efforts to recognise and celebrate diversity, embrace innovation and engage the workforce and local communities, MY Community Promise is based on working in partnership to address four key pillars. These are equity and engagement, economy, education and employment, and estate and environment.
MY Community Promise is about:
• looking beyond healthcare, at the wider purpose of our organisation
• looking after our communities
• improving health and social inequalities
• employing local
• reducing our environmental impact
• working with partners to have the greatest social impact
Healthcare remains at the heart of what we do, with a focus on working with our communities to achieve excellent patient experience each and every time. However, we are also committed to taking action on how our Trust can be a force for good by using our assets and influence to bring about change.
By teaming up with health and care partners, local councils and the voluntary and education sectors, we can reduce our environmental impact, address social and economic inequalities and create exciting and innovative employment, volunteering, pre-employment, and network opportunities for our communities.
Our efforts to support the social and economic development of our communities are focused on developing practices supported by NHS England and The Health Foundation. Through MY Community Promise we want to develop something which resonates with our communities, our patients, our staff, and our organisation, as we recognise our potential to do so much more.
