Blogmas: The Research Team

The Research Team

We’re highlighting our Research Team who, during the pandemic, began the ISARIC Clinical Characterisation Protocol research study for the clinical investigation of confirmed cases of Covid-19. They were winners in the Outstanding Service Improvement, Research and Innovation Award – Non-Clinical category in our Celebrating Excellence Awards. The study involved collecting sensitive information from Covid-19 patients and following the patient pathway from admission to hospital and onwards. The team’s dynamic work has linked the Trust with other organisations with the aim of improving care for patients with Covid-19.

There’s lots of exciting things happening at Mid Yorks, what are your plans for the coming year?

We are really looking forward to the Trust’s first Clinical Research and Innovation Building opening which will provide dedicated clinic space for research participants and enable us to offer more research opportunities at the Trust. Research plays an important part in generating new knowledge and provides access to new treatments which we want more of our patients to benefit from.

What are your plans for the festive period this year?

I’m looking forward to the Research Team Christmas Jumper Day / Junkyard golf trip.

What’s your favourite festive dish?

Does a selection box class as a ‘dish’?

What’s been your best present ever?

I remember being delighted by anything ‘My Little Pony’ and developed quite a good collection.

What’s your favourite Christmas film / song?

It has to be Michael Buble’s Christmas album – every year with a lot of repeat plays of Wham’s ‘Last Christmas.’

Tinsel or twinkly lights?

Why limit yourself to just one – it has to be both!

Tell us a Christmassy joke.

Q: How do you wash your hands over the Christmas period?

A: With SANTAtiser. (Please don’t tell the Infection Prevention and Control team!!)
