Stoma care
Stoma Care service offering both pre and post operative support to patients and their families as they navigate through their stoma journey.
Stoma care
The Stoma Care team is made up of 8 specialist nurses who work alongside various teams to ensure the best possible care to our patients.
Our service aims to support Ostomates as both inpatients and outpatients adapting to life with a stoma. Our specialist team provides availability for patients to be seen in clinics, for preoperative counselling, stoma complications and equipment reviews. As well as ward visits and promoting stoma education and ongoing support.
Stoma Care offer in house basic stoma education training for all ward staff. This aims to enhance patient care across Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust by developing ward staffs’ skills in this specialist area.
We host an annual wellbeing day for stoma patients to attend where they have the opportunity to meet our team and independent support groups.
On this page you will be able to find links to patient information leaflets and videos, contact information and advice and support.
Conditions we manage
Stoma Care manages various stoma related conditions such as granulomas, mucocutaneous separation, ulcerations, skin irritations, prolapsed and retracted stomas.
