Healthcare scientists
Our healthcare scientists use science, engineering, and technology to diagnose, monitor, and treat a wide range of medical conditions. They work both in laboratories and directly with patients, playing a vital role in the care patients receive.
In one of these roles, you could be monitoring a patient’s heart, processing blood samples, working on medical devices or taking clinical photographs.
Healthcare science offers a range of career opportunities:
Physiological science - such as audiology, cardiac physiology and respiratory
Life sciences - including pathology, genetics and reproductive
Medical physics - this covers roles in clinical engineering and medical devices development
Medical photography - capture images and videos of medical procedures, conditions and specimens
Many of these roles require a degree or an apprenticeship training programme.
