A senior clinician from Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has been elected to the Council of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), a prestigious appointment recognising her expertise and leadership within the international wound care community.

Leanne Atkin, Nurse Consultant at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust and Associate Professor at the University of Huddersfield, has joined the EWMA Council. The appointment reflects the growing recognition of the work being undertaken in vascular and lower limb care, alongside wider clinical academic contributions across both organisations.

Leanne said: “This role aligns strongly with my Associate Professor and clinical academic responsibilities, providing an opportunity to contribute to European strategic discussions on wound care, vascular disease, research, education and service development. I’m also looking forward to building new collaborative relationships and developing research opportunities that will benefit both Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust and the University of Huddersfield.”

Appointments such as this support the Trust’s wider ambitions around clinical academia, research leadership and progression towards University Trust status, demonstrating active engagement and influence at an international level.

Leanne’s election to the EWMA Council highlights the expertise and innovation within Mid Yorkshire’s clinical and academic workforce and reinforces the Trust’s commitment to improving patient care through research, education and international collaboration.
