Orthopaedic Consultant wins national research award

Consultant Aaron Ng

We are delighted to share that Mr Aaron Ng, Consultant at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, has won Best Musculoskeletal Trauma Principal Investigator (PI) in the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) Research Awards.

The awards aim to recognise Principal Investigators (PIs) that go above and beyond to ensure research is embedded into clinical practice.

Described by his colleagues as driven, professional and dedicated, Mr Ng is Principal Investigator to a number of studies and has been the driving force in opening numerous Orthopaedic studies, both adult and paediatric, reflecting the Trust’s values in everything he does.

Upon receiving the award, Mr Ng said: “ I am very honoured to receive this award; I have a great research team supporting me at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and without them, I wouldn't be here accepting this prestigious award. I hope this recognition inspires more NHS clinicians to engage and collaborate in future NIHR related research.”

Len Richards, Chief Executive of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with Aaron’s success. As a valued member of the research team for many years, it’s fantastic to see him receive this very well-deserved award.

"Aaron has gone above and beyond in his area of research and is dedicated to improving patient care and outcomes. He is a credit to the Trust and I’d like to say a huge congratulations again on his brilliant efforts.”
