Bronte Birth Centre welcomes 200th baby
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is celebrating a special milestone at Bronte Birth Centre in Dewsbury, with the arrival of baby Milo – the 200th baby born at the centre since it reopened in April 2024.
Milo was born to proud parents Charlotte and Daniel Noble, from Heckmondwike, who recently moved to the area with their 18-month-old son, Felix, to grow their young family.
Charlotte chose Bronte Birth Centre after deciding she wanted another water birth, having previously given birth to Felix in water at Pinderfields Hospital.
Charlotte said: “A water birth was something I really wanted again, and the birth centre had two beautiful rooms with pools. The day I went into labour, we called the centre to check availability and, as soon as we arrived, the pool was already running. Even though I was heavily contracting, the atmosphere was so calm. The lighting was dim and soothing, and the team were amazing – they instantly knew what to do, and I felt safe placing my full trust in their care.”
Reflecting on her experience, Charlotte added: “I felt truly cared for during my contractions, while giving birth to Milo, and afterwards during recovery. The midwifery team gave me confidence in myself and my body to do what it needed to do. For mums-to-be wanting a calm, empowering birth with the option of water, the Bronte team will support your birth preferences and create a truly memorable experience.”
Since reopening, Bronte Birth Centre has welcomed hundreds of families across the region, offering a calm, homely environment for low-risk births supported by experienced midwives. The centre is one of four birthplace options offered by the Trust in line with national guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Other options include home birth, supported by community midwives, Pinderfields Birth Centre, the alongside midwife-led birth centre at Pinderfields Hospital, and the labour ward and elective caesarean section unit at Pinderfields Hospital.
Kerry Reede Field, the Trust's Director of Midwifery, Children’s Nursing and Women’s Health said: “We’re delighted to celebrate our 200th birth at Bronte Birth Centre. It’s a testament to our team’s dedication in providing safe, personalised care in a relaxed, family-friendly setting if your pregnancy is low risk. We’re grateful to Charlotte and Daniel for sharing their story and helping us showcase the positive experiences families can have here.”
