Bronte Birth Centre welcomes first baby of 2026
Bronte Birth Centre, located in the grounds of Dewsbury and District Hospital, welcomed its first baby of 2026 on Sunday 4 January.
Caleb Wales was born to parents Maisie and Thomas at the free-standing birth centre, which offers a calm, homely environment for those with an uncomplicated, low-risk pregnancy choosing midwife-led care.
Caleb’s mum, Maisie Wales, shared her experience:
“My experience at Bronte Birth Centre was fantastic. From the minute I arrived, the midwives were attentive and did everything they could to make sure I felt as comfortable and relaxed as possible. The birthing suite and recovery room were both really clean and had everything we required. The three midwives on shift went above and beyond during and after my labour to make my experience as smooth as possible.
“It was a lovely surprise to hear my son was the first Bronte baby of 2026, and it will definitely be a story to tell him as he gets older. We were even given a gift to mark the celebration as we left.”
Bronte Birth Centre provides a safe and supportive space for women with low-risk pregnancies, with facilities designed to promote natural birth and enhance comfort for families.
Faye Wells, Bronte Birth Centre Manager, added: “Welcoming the first baby of the year is always a special moment for our team, and we were delighted to welcome Caleb to Bronte Birth Centre. Our midwives take great pride in providing personalised, compassionate care, and it’s lovely to hear such positive feedback from families.”
Bronte Birth Centre is open to women and birthing people with low-risk pregnancies who would like a natural birth in a supportive, relaxed environment.
