Double award success for Simon Hosey

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) is celebrating the outstanding achievements of Simon Hosey, Head of Financial Accounting and Control, who has been honoured with two prestigious awards.

Most recently, Simon was named Finance Professional of the Year by the Yorkshire and Humber Branch of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

In naming Simon as the winner at their annual conference, the Association acknowledged the pivotal role he has played in transforming finance reporting capabilities at MYTT. He was praised for developing and implementing an advanced database which underpins effective and insightful reporting.

Simon was largely self-taught in these endeavours and shared his knowledge amongst the finance team, including ad-hoc training and “happy to help” sessions to support improvement across the team.

The award nomination praised Simon as a “forward-looking finance leader” who is “approachable, supportive, and highly committed to the personal and professional development of his team.”

This recognition came hot on the heels of winning 'The Melanie Savory Award' for Contributor of the Year at the NEP Awards.

NEP is an NHS Consortium and a trusted ERP solution provider for the NHS. They deliver a fully integrated, cloud-based finance and procurement system tailored specifically for the NHS.

Simon was named the winner thanks to the time he has spent supporting other Trusts set up and use cash management modules, as well as his role as Chair of the group supporting use of this system across the consortium.

"Whilst this is an individual award, it is recognition for a lot of people who have done lots of great work,” said Simon.

"With that in mind, I'd like to thank my team and colleagues across Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, as well as the wider NEP consortium.

"We have set high standards as a team but we'll continue to look at ways we can improve reporting, controls and automation."

“Simon is a great asset to our team,” said Amy Whitaker, Chief Finance Officer at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

“He thinks differently to solving problems using digital solutions, which has led to us being more efficient in the use of our time, enabling our focus to move from day-to-day tasks to adding value.

“Simon is demonstrating that we should not feel threatened by the use of technology but should embrace it and use it to our advantage. I am so pleased that the work Simon has done in this area has been recognised beyond the team, and I am extremely proud of the work he does to share his learning with other colleagues, both internally and externally.”
