Mid Yorkshire fundraiser goes the extra mile with 50km Peak District challenge | News

A Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust colleague has raised more than £1,000 for Elderly Care services after completing an impressive 50km ultra marathon challenge through the Peak District.

Hayley Ainsworth, along with her husband, Simon Ainsworth, took on the demanding Peak District Ultra Challenge at the beginning of July, tackling 50 kilometres of challenging terrain and steep climbs. After months of training and preparations, the pair achieved remarkable results with Hayley finishing as the 12th woman and her husband as the 15th man to cross the finish line for their event.

Their incredible effort was all in aid of Elderly Care at Pinder fields, raising an impressive £1,180 through MY Hospitals Charity to help enhance the experience of patients and their families.

The funds raised will help provide comfort and support for patients living with dementia and those requiring enhanced care, helping to create an improved environment for some of the Trust's most vulnerable patients.

Keith Ramsay, Chair at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Hayley and her husband for taking on such a demanding challenge in support of our Elderly Care services and MY Hospitals Charity.

“Their dedication and commitment have resulted in an amazing fundraising total that will help us provide additional resources and comforts for our patients. On behalf of everyone at MY Hospitals charity, a huge thank you."
