Mid Yorkshire signs EPR contract with Nervecentre
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has signed a ten-year contract with Nervecentre to implement a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
EPR systems are a centralised, electronic way of holding detailed health information and the new EPR will create a digital record for all patients under the care of Mid Yorkshire.
The implementation of a new EPR system will be a positive change for patients and staff. The speed and efficiency at which information can be shared across departments, wards and hospital sites will be increased, transforming the quality of care by helping to support important clinical decision-making.
Nervecentre’s cloud-based system will further digitise healthcare services at Mid Yorkshire and will provide clinical staff with secure and instant access to real-time medical records – on any device, anywhere.
Mid Yorkshire and Nervecentre signed the long-term contract at the beginning of February, following a competitive tender process and the allocation of funding for the system from NHS England.
NHS England is providing £1.9 billion to NHS trusts to ensure they all meet a core level of digitisation and have electronic patient record systems in place. This investment in digitising the frontline will ensure that health and care staff have access to health-related information when and where it is needed, supporting them to deliver care efficiently, effectively and safely, reducing variation and improving outcomes.
Rob Birkett, Chief Digital Information Officer at Mid Yorkshire, said:
“We are delighted to take a further step towards a single, secure and integrated digitised health record for patients under the care of Mid Yorkshire, following the signing of a contract with Nervecentre as our EPR supplier. The new EPR system will connect every part of the care journey, putting our patients at the heart of everything we do. It will allow clinicians to access patient data at the point of care and empower our staff to provide an excellent patient experience at every contact.”
Nervecentre CEO, Paul Volkaerts, said:
“This partnership represents a significant step forward in delivering the NHS’s vision for a more connected, digitally enabled health service. Deploying Nervecentre will give Mid Yorkshire the power to transform how care is delivered, bringing people together and supporting improved productivity, safer care and a seamless experience for patients and staff. We are proud to support the Trust in realising its digital ambitions and look forward to working together to deliver lasting impact across its hospitals."
Nervecentre is already a widely used EPR solution in other acute NHS trusts and Mid Yorkshire joins a growing network that have committed to using Nervecentre to provide their EPR platform.
The new EPR system will be implemented at Mid Yorkshire on a phased basis over a two-year period.
