Patient praises District Nurses for compassionate care
For nine months, Scott Hellewell received care from Mid Yorkshire’s District Nursing team for leg ulcers. Chronic, painful wounds that require frequent medical attention.
Due to the severity of his condition, Scott needed twice-weekly home visits, as the ulcers were slow to heal and caused significant discomfort. The impact was more than physical, Scott struggled with daily activities and felt increasingly isolated, relying heavily on the nursing team’s support to maintain his independence.
Throughout his treatment, Scott described the nurses as a “constant source of support,” praising both their professional expertise and their emotional reassurance. Their compassionate care enabled him to stay in the comfort of his own home, which played a vital role in his recovery.
Now fully healed, Scott has sent a heartfelt letter to Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust to thank the team for their unwavering dedication. In his letter, he wrote:
“They never missed a visit, their medical attention to detail was excellent. They always had a friendly disposition and ready smile. A big thank you for your service.”
