Two colleagues from Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust have been recognised with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief Midwifery Officer (CMidO) Awards from NHS England.

Alex Bonsels, Assistant Practice Educator, and Humayra Razzaq, Healthcare Support Worker on the Acute Assessment Unit, both received the CNO Award for Commitment to Quality of Care, a national award that recognises healthcare support workers who consistently demonstrate NHS values and make an exceptional contribution to patient care, to improve the experience of patients, families and colleagues.
Alex was recognised for the exceptional support he provides to Healthcare Support Workers and Clinical Support Workers beginning their careers in healthcare. Through his delivery of the Care Certificate and Healthcare Academy programmes, he has helped over 275 new colleagues develop the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to provide safe, compassionate care.
Humayra received the award in recognition of her dedication to improving patient care and championing quality across the organisation. Although based on the Acute Assessment Unit, she regularly contributes to service improvement initiatives beyond the scope of her role, often dedicating her own time to supporting projects that enhance patient experience and outcomes. Her colleagues praised her for consistently demonstrating compassion, dignity and respect in every interaction, ensuring patients feel heard and supported.
Talib Yaseen, Chief Nursing Officer at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, said:
"We are incredibly proud of Alex and Humayra for their well deserved recognition and success in these awards.
“Both colleagues go above and beyond in their roles and embody our Trust values in everything they do, and we are delighted to see their commitment recognised at a national level."
