Trust re-signs Armed Forces Covenant after gold award revalidation

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has formally re‑signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. This follows the Trust’s successful revalidation of its Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), originally achieved in 2020.

By re‑signing the Covenant, the Trust reinforces its pledge to ensure that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are not disadvantaged when accessing public or commercial services. This commitment sits at the heart of the Covenant’s principles and remains a priority for the Trust.

As a forces‑friendly employer, the Trust actively supports members of the Armed Forces community in finding employment within the organisation. The Trust guarantees an interview to any applicant from the Armed Forces community who meets the essential criteria for the role.

To further strengthen this support, the Trust also has dedicated policies in place for Armed Forces staff, including an Armed Forces Staff Network. This network meets regularly and provides a welcoming space for colleagues to connect, share experiences, and access peer support.

Brent Kilmurray, Chief Executive at the Trust, said “We are committed to championing the Armed Forces Covenant and ensuring the Armed Forces community feels valued, included, and supported. We recognise the diverse experiences that members of the Armed Forces community bring, and this is reflected in our forces‑friendly recruitment processes”.
