Mid Yorkshire student district nurse nominated for prestigious Queen's Institute award | News

Julie Giles, Student District Nurse within Adult Community Services at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, has been nominated for the Philip Goodeve-Docker Memorial Prize by the Queen's Institute of Community Nursing (QNI).

Julie has been put forward for recognition by Leeds Beckett University of her exceptional academic and clinical achievements following the completion of the District Nursing Specialist Practitioner programme.

As part of the programme, each university is invited to nominate one student who has demonstrated outstanding commitment, achievement and potential during their studies. Julie's nomination reflects her dedication to continuous learning and professional development, with her lecturer highlighting the consistently high quality of her work and the significant impact she made throughout the course.

Colleagues at the Trust supporting Julie praised her for her consistent approach to putting the patient’s safety at the heart of her work and promoting evidence-based practice across community healthcare.

Commenting on her nomination, Julie said:

Throughout my training, my focus has always been on providing the best possible care for patients and supporting people to remain independent in their own homes. I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from my colleagues, mentors and university.
